A lovely example of a John Bates Jean Varon early/mid 1970s full length evening dress in an attractive multicoloured print with gold thread running through the fabric.
It features a shirt style collar and button through bodice to waist level with short front zip fastening below and drawstring waist with self ties. The voluminous skirt features sewn down pleats to hip level with softer pleating below. The dress is in excellent condition but the top collar button is missing (not noticeable if worn open, but this could be replaced by one of the identical cuff buttons which in turn could be substituted with similar style buttons).
