We’re back!

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

We are back from our whistlestop visit to London Town and raring to go (well, sort of…) All pending orders will be going out on Monday and we thank customers for their patience during our short but sweet absence from the frock face.

It was a veritable joy to revisit Portobello Road market with its tempting array of vintage. Needless to say we managed to pick up a few pieces of interest, but bravely resisted the temptation to add too much more to our personal collection. Just a few frocks and this wee pair of D&G shoes (completely justifiable, as we’re sure you’ll agree).

Dolce and Gabanna shoes

It was also lovely to catch up with Eddie and the Hot Rods who performed a stonking set at the Half Moon in Putney on Friday night. (Almost as good as shoes, in fact, and much cheaper.) One of our favourite bands, these vintage rockers just get better and better with age. So thank you, Barrie and Richard especially, for making some old frockers very happy!

We’ll take Manhattan (and St Andrews)

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

We'll Take Manhattan

So who else watched We’ll Take Manhattan? We enjoyed it so much we watched it twice!

Young Jean Shrimpton, muse of photographer David Bailey, was to take the fashion world by storm after a boundary-pushing New York photo shoot for Vogue magazine in 1962, becoming the world’s first supermodel and an enduring style icon. In the BBC4 dramatisation, Karen Gillan and Aneurin Barnard played their respective roles to perfection as they transported us back to the beginning of an era in which the times were about to change seismically.

Last week, in a similar vein, we decided we would ‘take’ St Andrews, where talented make up artist Sandra Cormack and photographer Gillian Gamble managed to capture a certain ‘Shrimp’ spirit in Camilla, one of the models we styled for a Dollyfrockers vintage shoot in advance of the upcoming St Andrews Vintage Fashion Fair. Her coat was strikingly similar to the one pictured above, don’t you think? We should of course have remembered the teddy bear!

Are you ready to frock?

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

No, you didn’t miss our earlier announcement of the Frockery’s Eco-Fashion Challenge 2012 which starts today and runs throughout February, it’s just that January ran out faster than anticipated. Our best excuse is that we are dedicated followers of slow fashion!

Our inaugural challenge was held last year as a fun way of combating the snowdrift blues and was a great success, so we decided to make it an annual event. We have, however, simplified the rules this year to make it easier to take part. So do come and join us in our 2012 February frock-up!

Frockery February Eco-Fashion Challenge 2012

In celebration of hand made, vintage, retro and recycled, we are once again encouraging friends, fans and followers to take part in our February eco-fashion challenge during the shortest, darkest and most depressingly bill-filled month of the year.

The rules are simple

Most of your clothing should be hand made, vintage, recycled or second hand during February and you should post your pictures, outfit descriptions, sources and costs on the Frockery Facebook page over the course of the month (as many or as few as you like!)

If you don’t ‘do’ Facebook, you can post your entries here on our blog or email them to us directly and we will post them for you.

Pics mean prizes

Frockery vouchers (£100 for the winner and £50 for the runner up) will go to the posters of the most stylish and creative eco-fashionable ensembles at the end of the month.

So come on everybody, let’s frock!
