• Are you ready to frock?

    January 12, 2014

It's nearly time for the Frockery Eco-Fashion Challenge 2014.

A wee reminder of why we do it

By way of incentive to save the planet (and the wallet) in style, there will be prizes at the end of February's challenge for our favourite eco-fashionistas.

So are you ready to frock?

  • Frockery EcoFasion Challenge 2013: winners announced!

    March 6, 2013

Thank you to everyone who entered The Frockery's third annual eco-fashion challenge, which ran throughout February 2013 on our Facebook group and using the #frockerychallenge Twitter hashtag.

The challenge began in 2011 as a fun way of helping to banish the winter blues during the depressingly cold, cash-strapped month of February, and we offered some Frockery vouchers as an incentive to showcase favourite vintage, retro, second hand and handmade outfits.

Once again this year it was a challenge in itself for our independent judges to pick an outright winner and runner-up as so many stylish outfits (and the stories behind them) were submitted by our eco-chic fashionistas.

    Here, finally, are the results:

This year's winner is Jeanette Archer, who will receive £100 of frockery from our catalogue. Pictured below is Jeanette wearing one of the many stylish outfits she shared with us during the challenge.

Our runner up is Cassy Fry, pictured below in one of her beautiful vintage blouses, who will receive £50 of frockery from our catalogue.

Congratulations, ladies, and a big thank you to all participants for being such a fabulous bunch of eco-frockers! We hope you'll join us again next year.

We have decided to keep our Facebook group going in addition to our business page (do please 'like' us if you haven't already!) so that members can post their eco-fashion tips, bargain buys,  vintage adventures and news. We may also use it to run exclusive events, competitions and offers during the year.  It is a 'closed' group, which means that the posts and images are not viewable by the public as not everyone is comfortable with that, but anyone can request to join. It is small, but beautiful - just the way we like it!

  • The Frockery Eco-Fashion Challenge 2013 has begun!

    February 1, 2013

Are you ready to frock? Why not join the Frockers and friends in February to rock the retro, hype the hand made and celebrate the second hand?

Our 3rd annual Eco-Fashion Challenge kicks off today on our Facebook Group, but you can also take part on Twitter using the #frockerychallenge hashtag.

This is why we do it!

And by way of added incentive to save the planet (and the wallet) in style there will be prizes at the end of the month.

You'll find the details and (minimal rules) here.

  • Let's frock again like we did last Feb'ry

    January 23, 2013

Get ready to frock, folks! The third annual Frockery Eco-Fashion Challenge is fast approaching and will run throughout the month of February 2013 when we will once again vaunt the vintage, rock the retro and celebrate the second hand, recycled and hand made.

Our inaugural challenge was held in 2011 as a fun way of combating the February blues while giant snowdrifts brought the country to a virtual standstill. It was such fun that we repeated it last year and decided to turn it into an annual slow fashion event. The 'rules' are simple and few, so why not come and join us for our 2013 frock-up?

    Frockery February Eco-Fashion Challenge 2013

In celebration of hand made, vintage, retro and recycled, we are once again encouraging friends, fans and followers to take part in our February eco-fashion challenge during the shortest, darkest and most depressingly bill-filled month of the year.

    The rules are simple

Aim to wear clothing and accessories which are hand made, vintage, recycled or second hand during February and post your pictures, outfit descriptions, sources and costs on the Frockery Facebook Group which has been revived for the purpose (it's a closed group but just send a join request as Alison and Arthur Frocker are getting lonely there!) Alternatively you can post on the Frockery Facebook page or on our Twitter feed (using the #frockerychallenge hashtag so we don't miss it). If all else fails, just email us directly and we'll post for you! You can showcase as many or as few outfits as you like over the course of the month.

    Pics mean prizes

Frockery to the value of £100 for the winner and £50 for the runner up will go to the posters of the most stylish and creative (in our judges' opnion) eco-fashionable ensembles at the end of the challenge.

So come on everybody, let's frock again like we did last Feb'ry!

  • Arthur takes a trip (and loses his head)

    October 31, 2012

    arthur frocker

Arthur Frocker has been complaining bitterly (in that moodily mute manner only a male mannequin can manage - just look at that less than impressed expression above!) about being left stood in a corner of the Frockery office with little attention (apart for some tacky tinsel round his shoulders last Christmas) and no outings for the past year.

Since his Spice Girls pals went off on tour and were such a massive hit at RARA, the best wee vintage shop in Downtown Dundee, a touch of the green eyed monster has begun to afflict our ageing mannequin, who wants a bit of the action (or maybe that should be inaction) for himself.

So since it's Halloween, which is definitely Arthur's time of year, we have once again dressed him up in his tailcoat, tuxedo shirt and bow tie for a surprise trip to Dundee. He looked distinctly unimpressed when being loaded (horizontally) into Johnny Frocker's van and lost his head again. [Readers may remember that the same fate befell him last  year when his head rolled off his shoulders while sitting in the passenger seat of Alison's Merc as she negotiated a roundabout]. He keels over a lot as well these days, and some of his body parts are no longer in working order - all part of the vintage mannequin's ageing process, it seems - but we love him nonetheless.

If you want meet Arthur in the flesh (or should that be resin?) pop into RARA and the Pretty Vacant Showrooms this week, where he'll be delighted to greet you.  What's more, if you send us a picture of yourself with Arthur,  you'll be in with a chance of winning £20 of Frockery goods. (Judging will take place next week, and remember to send your contact details in case you win!)

    Arthur says:

"Relax, I'm 'armless, and I don't have my head (or hands) screwed on either!"

Happy Halloween from the Frockers and RARA!
