  • Frockers' Highland fling

    September 28, 2014

We'd just like to forewarn customers that all orders placed on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd October will be despatched at the latest on Friday 3rd October.

The chief frocker is going AWOL again, leaving Danny Frocker in 'remote' charge of frocking operations while she heads north to Inverness for a Highland fling (and possibly a bit of a sword dance). Wearing a slightly different hat from her usual vintage tifter (such as this one modelled and selfie-snapped by Fi Frocker), she plans to leave the locals reeling!

We have meanwhile just completed a catalogue update with some tempting new pieces of frockery, but still have oodles of new stock waiting in the wardrobe wings to list on our return. We are replete with cashmere jumpers in every shade (including grey) and some stunning evening tops are shimmering patiently in the stock room, so prepare to be dazzled on our return!

This vintage turquoise dress really took our fancy this weekend. Dressed up or down, it would make a colourful addition to the autumn wardrobe and be sure to brighten up the shorter, darker days ahead.

We're also wild about this leopard faux fur jacket which we teamed with an 80s tan leather skirt (snapped up before even making it into the catalogue).

Never fear, we'll be back soon with lots more tempting treats. We may even send some Instagram postcards from Inverness (if we can master the technology!)

  • New look for the Frockery (2)

    May 18, 2013

It would be difficult not to notice our new look website as it is so different from its predecessor and our second major overhaul since we started trading in 2007. It is still something of a work in progress while this blog gets a few glitches resolved, so please bear with us.  [UPDATE: Gremlins have now been run off the site!)

We hope you like the redesign, which is greatly enhanced by images courtesy of our creative partners. We are also very grateful for the patience of Charles, our talented magento developer, and Ian at our hosting company DX3Webs who made the process as painless as possible for us non techie types.

We can now get on with what we do best and bring you some of the most affordable vintage, retro and classic contemporary frockery on the virtual high street.

To celebrate our makeover, we are offering a cross-store 20% discount for this weekend only. To take advantage of this offer, please use the code NEWLOOK at the checkout.

  • Absent frockers

    May 7, 2013

Apologies for our absence from active frocking duties, but work is still going on behind the scenes on our website upgrade which has taken longer than anticipated. True to form, there have been a few delays and hiccups along the way but we are getting there! It will be worth it, we can assure you.

Meanwhile we have just updated the catalogue with some new stock, including this fab Hell Bunny pin-up rockabilly frock.

  • Back from the deep south (of London)

    October 25, 2012

We're back from our trip to the deep south (of London) where we visited our lovely daughter (who features on our website banner and is now living and working in the capital) and enjoyed some vintage retail therapy as well as revisiting many old haunts. The weekend was not without its share of adventure, either, the most memorable of which was a mad and super scary midnight taxi ride around Docklands with the Frockers holding on to their seat belts for dear life while their luggage flew around the boot! We must confess we are glad to have survived to tell the tale and to have returned to the one-tractor Scottish town whence we came.

We have now caught up on the backlog of orders which were waiting for us on our return and thank our customers for their patience during our short absence. We have already begun adding some super new stock to the catalogue, so please check out our What's New section for the latest additions.

Meanwhile here are a few tasters of what's still in the pipeline:

  • News from the techie frock face

    July 10, 2011

We are in the process of moving to new servers which may result in a short period of downtime for some users of the Frockery website while we transfer the contents of our virtual wardrobe to a more spacious place in cyberspace.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience during the flitting. Faster loading pages and increased memory capacity will make it all worthwhile, we promise!

  • Just in case you missed our newsletter...

    Here it is!

    February Eco-Fashion Challenge

February may be the shortest, but it is also the coldest, darkest and most depressing bill-filled month of the year.

So in a bid to banish the winter blues and benefit bank balances, we are inviting you to take part in our 28 day eco-fashion challenge for a chance to win £50 Frockery vouchers.

The rules are simple. All or most of your clothing has to be vintage, hand made, recycled or second hand throughout February. Tell us how you get on by posting your pictures, outfit descriptions, sources and costs on the Frockery Facebook page (non Facebookers can email them directly to us and we will post them on our blog).

At the end of the challenge, independent fashion blogger Amber McNaught, of Fashion Police and Shoeperwoman fame, will select the most stylish and creative February eco-fashionistas, who will each receive £50 Frockery vouchers.

Participants are already signing up and chatting about the challenge here, so what are you waiting for? It’s fun, it's free and will make February fly!

If you need any more persuading, or inspiration, you might want to check out some of our tried and tested 'RE' action ideas.

    Preloved Reloved Project

Thanks to the power of Twitter, we were delighted to hear about the Preloved Reloved project initiated by Kim Sklinar, who is wearing only second hand clothes throughout 2011 to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Research charity.

    She writes on her blog:

“From charity shops, vintage markets and eBay, I’ll be spending less on clothes, making less impulse purchases, wearing more unusual things, accessorising better, giving more money to charity and generally not giving money to sweatshop factories via the high street.”

Kim is most definitely a lady after our own hearts (and wardrobes!) and we’ll be watching her progress with interest. If you want to donate towards Kim’s very worthwhile cause, you can do so here.

    St Valentine's Day

One special date to look forward to this month is St Valentine’s Day on 14th February. So why not celebrate the occasion this year by rocking the retro instead of hitting the high street? There is absolutely nothing not to love about preloved fashion and we have plenty of romantic frockery in stock which is sure to captivate your soulmate! What's more, preloved Valentine's Day dressing will also count in the eco-fashion challenge.

    And finally

A big thank you to all our customers, both new and preloved, for your continuing support. We always enjoy hearing from you, so please feel free to drop us an email or leave us a review on Facebook.
