Beatroot & Lace Bazaar

We wanted to give you all a heads-up and thumbs-up for a new Glasgow-based vintage (ad)venture in the form of the Beatroot & Lace Bazaar, described by its founders as "The Vintage Fair With Creative Flair".  The brainchild of Marco and his partner Jennie - whose  combined musical and artistic credentials are impressive, and their juggling ability as parents of a small baby even more so! -  this latest addition to the somewhat crowded vintage fair circuit promises something refreshingly different with its unique blend of music, art, fashion and collectables.

As self-confessed 'magpie-eyed' Marco puts it:

"In mixing the best of the past with music, art and design of the present and future, we hope to provide an environment of collaboration and creativity which can benefit traders, artist, performers and customers while building a community of like-minded people."

Sounds pretty cool to us!

Unfortunately we won't be able to participate in the launch extravaganza during the busy Freshers' Week (it's a bit too far for us old frockers and we have other commitments that weekend), but we're sure students and locals won't be disappointed. The inaugural bazaar is to be held in The Art School, 20 Scott Street, Glasgow on 20th September 2014, from 11am until 4pm, and will bring together  local traders, musicians and artists to rock all things retro.

Over to Marco again:

"Not only will there will be 30 tempting vintage and artisan maker stalls to shop at, but performances from a host of key participants in Glasgow’s vibrant music scene will be welcomed. In addition the opportunity to view and purchase original artwork by a selection of the finest up and coming artists the city has to offer will also be exclusively available."

Entry will be free of charge - another refreshing change! - and various activities are planned for the day in an effort to raise money for repair work to the damaged Mackintosh building, for which we frockers have a particular soft spot.

More bazaars are in the pipeline as follows:

11th Oct The Art School
25th Oct The Record Factory
8th Nov The Art School
22nd Nov The Record Factory
13th Dec The Art School
20th Dec The Record Factory
